Malaysia needs to move to a greener economy, which implies meeting development and environmental sustainability. Green technology or clean technology is the use of any technology related to environmental science, green chemistry, environmental monitoring and electronic devices to conserve the natural environment and resources, reducing climate changes as a result. The development of Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) in Perlis is centred on Green industries, such as green manufacturing and renewable energy. CVIA’s green industries encompass manufacturing of automotive components, building materials and electrical & electronics.

Malaysia is listed as one of the top three global investment destination for renewable energy. Malaysia Renewable Energy Target by 2020 aims for 1,250 MW to be connected to the grid. The momentum for Malaysia’s renewables sector has been gathering pace, in line with the National Renewable Energy Policy and Action Plan, and the Feed-in Tariff scheme. Perlis leverages on its physical characteristics as Perlis receives the highest solar irradiance reading in Peninsular Malaysia (an average of about 24MJ/m2/day), compared to the national average of about 20MJ/m2/day. HALAL INDUSTRIES

Malaysia aims for a RM50 billion worth of halal exports in 2020, and aspires to remain competitive in the halal industry and become the foremost exporter of halal products globally. Malaysia had the advantages as a halal hub as it had a complete ecosystem in various aspects including investment and finance. In line with national aspiration, the State Government also puts focus on halal industries to transform Perlis into a high-income and industrialised state by 2030. CVIA looks forward to having halal industry investors from the pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and food & beverages.
